...veritable Eden of visual and tactile sensations...
.Vladimir Nabokov.
Christine is mixed media, gesture driven, abstract expressionist who works with acrylics, oil sticks, graphite, watercolors, ink, collage on paper, and any other interesting materials she discovers along the way. Her favorite tools are her hands. Currently based in Bridgeport, Connecticut with detours through Arizona, Colorado, and Oregon before circling back to the east coast where she's originally from. Her early creative interest took the form of photography as a teenager coming of age in the Arizona desert and not until very later and unexpectedly turned to painting in 2017.
She is a self taught artist with no formal training who finds endless fun, fulfillment, and meaning in experimenting with foreign and new to her materials and techniques. She is passionate and driven to make art that drives involvement, encourages imagination and leaves her audience with a question, a sense of curiosity or altered sense of perspective, if even for a brief moment in time. Elements of nature: trees, floral imagery, mountain landscapes often unintentionally present themselves in her work. She also finds human anatomy, especially hearts and brains (both literal and figurative) fascinating and inspiring, both aesthetically and functionally.
At its very basic element; her art is about manifesting internal emotion, feeling, impulses, and energy while forcing and projecting them on to and out to the surface where they can be seen, shared, and experienced. She takes an intuitive approach and sees her work as an artist equally as game, a puzzle, a flow, and an act of faith, and a connection to the source and inherent oneness.
